After God's Own Heart
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am as Pastor Shon leads us in our study of 2 Samuel, encouraging us to seek for hearts that are after God’s own heart.
CORE Groups
Our JOURNEY Groups and FrontLine will have their last night on April 29. CORE Groups will begin meeting on May 13. CORE Groups are a way to engage with church members in a smaller group setting, encouraging one another in our walks with God. If you are interested in joining a group, let us know.
Psalms
Pastor Mark will resume the study of the Psalms in the Family Life Center at 9:00am in July and will continue through the end of November. He will be picking up in Book 4 which covers Psalm 90-106.
Countering Islam
During the months of July and August, Dan Schopf will be teaching a class at 9:00am in the ABF rooms, dealing with answers for common Muslim objections to Christianity.
Communion
We will be celebrating the Lord's Supper during the Community Service on August 9. Come with your hearts prepared as together we remember the sacrifice of our Savior and look forward to His return for us.
Missionary Presentation
Our supported missionaries to Argentina, Andrew and Romina Self, will be with us on Sunday, August 16. They will share their missions presentation during the Community Service that day.
End of Summer Cookout
Join us for the End of Summer Cookout at Big Creek State Park on Wednesday, August 26, at 5:30pm. This will mark the end of our summer Core Group meetings as Journey Groups resume the following week. Bring a side or dessert to share and your own drinks.
Frontline
On September 2 our Wednesday night Frontline ministry for kids will resume at 6:45 here at the church. This is for kids from age 2-6th grade.
Family Ministries Night
Our Fall Family Ministries Night will resume on September 2. This includes the children’s Frontline Ministry, Youth Group, and College Equip Group all starting at 6:45 pm. In addition, the Adult Journey Groups meet at 7:00 pm in the Fireside and ABF rooms.
Name Tag Sunday
August 2 is a Name Tag Sunday. Be sure to grab your tag at the kiosk on the way in. Be intentional about meeting someone you don't yet know. It's a great way to refresh your memory on names you tend to forget.
Members Meeting
Our Quarterly Members Meeting will be held on July 12 during the Community Service. All members are encouraged to attend.
VBS
VBS Registration is open for children 4 years - 5th grade and will be June 28-July 1 from 6:00-8:15pm. The theme is Emerald Crossing and is based on Psalm 23. Scan the QR Code in the image to register your children.
Ladies Blind Date with a Book
All Primetimer (empty nesters) and 4th Quarter/OverTime (retired) ladies are invited to join us at the church at 10am for this time of fellowship and book discussion. There is no cost to participate.
Men's Grill Out
Men and boys of all ages are invited for a grill out at the church on June 26. This will be come and go from 5:30-7:30pm. Use the QR code on the image to sign up.
Parent Child Dedication
On Father’s Day we will enjoy an Extended Worship Service with a special message for fathers and a Parent Child Dedication. We thank the Lord for the many young families who are part of our Community family.
Young Adults Game Night
Young Adults College Age and Up are invited to join other Christian singles for this monthly gathering for fellowship and games. Meet at the church at 6:00pm.
The Huddle
The Huddle retired guys are meeting at 9:00am at a new location. Breakfast and fellowship will be at It's My Jam Cafe located at 7015 NE Ankeny Blvd in Ankeny. This is one mile south of Oralabor Rd on Ankeny Blvd.
Communion
During the Community Service on June 7, we will be fellowshipping around the Lord's Table. Prepare your hearts ahead of time as we come together to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross.
Contentment - June ABF
The Adult Bible Fellowship hour during the month of June will be taught by Caleb Eloe in the Family Life Center. The topic will be Contentment, emphasizing our sufficiency in Christ.
Promotion Sunday
Promotion Sunday will be June 7. All ages will meet in the Family Life Center at 9:00am and will be dismissed to their new classrooms at 9:15am.
Name Tag Sunday
This year we are doing Name Tag Sundays every first Sunday of the month. Grab a name tag at the kiosk as you enter the building. This is a good tool to refresh yourself on names you don't know well and to get to know people you haven't yet met.
Ladies Night - A Heart for Peru
Monday, June 1, will be a time for ladies of all ages and their children to share a dessert & fellowship. This is a time to get to know our missionary Rosanna Peterson and her daughters a bit better from 6:30-8:00pm.
Missionary Presentation
During the Community Service on May 31, we will hear an update from our supported missionaries, Isaiah and Rosanna Peterson. Come and hear about their ministry in Peru with Bible translation.
Missions Trips
We have several individuals from the church body serving around the world in different capacities. During the Community service on May 24, we will hear details equipping us to pray for those who are heading out on short-term trips.
Global Impact Service
During our Community Service on Sunday, May 17, we will hear updates and pray for our missionaries, and specifically we will be introduced to our two newly supported missionaries.
Mother's Day
No Community Service as we enjoy an Extended Worship Service together. We will honor our mothers and enjoy special music by our Children's Church kids as well as hear some missions updates.
The Huddle
The second Friday of each month, there is a retired guys breakfast meeting at The Ankeny Diner at 9am. This is a great opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship together.
Equip Sunday Supper
All College EQUIP and 4th Qtr/OT Senior Saints are invited to a joint fellowship THIS Sunday, May 3, at 5:30pm. Supper will be provided and there will be a time to hear the students' future plans, activities, and prayer requests. If you have any questions, see Ron Thompson or Brian Fincham.

Starting Point
A new month of Starting Point begins May 3. This is the path for church membership. Class begins at 9am in the Fireside Room with Pastor Shon.
Discipleship - May ABF
During the month of May, Pastor Sawyer will be teaching the Adult Bible Fellowship in the Family Life Center at 9:00 am on the subject of discipleship and its importance for the church as a whole.
Joyful Noise
During the Community Service on April 26, we will feature a Joyful Noise service. If you would like to participate in the special music service, please email the church office at CBCankeny@gmail.com.
Church Work Day
We have a spring cleaning day at the church planned. This is a great way to keep the building in good condition and steward well what God has blessed us with. The project list is growing fast, and we could use many hands to help make headway on our To Do List.
Pella Tulip Trip
Young adults, college age and up, are invited to a Pella Tulip Trip on Saturday, April 25 from 9:30am to 3:30 pm. A van will be leaving from Community Baptist Church in Ankeny at 9:30am or you can arrange your own transportation. Please RSVP to David Love at (515) 414-4175.
Parents Night Out
Parents, if you have children 4th grade and younger and would like some free babysitting so you can enjoy a night out, our CBC Equip group is offering a Parents Night Out on Sunday, April 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Be sure to sign up at the resource table in the church foyer!
Core Group Leader Meeting
There will be a Core Group Leader Meeting on Sunday afternoon, April 12, at 4:30 pm in the Fireside Room.
Baptism Sunday
Join us as we hear redemption testimonies and witness God's work in the lives of these individuals as they display obedience in believer's baptism. This will be an Extended Worship Service.
Name Tag Sunday
Since Easter was on the first Sunday, we pushed Name Tag Sunday to the second week. Plan to grab a name tag at the kiosk on your way in and meet someone you don't yet know.
