After God's Own Heart
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am as Pastor Shon leads us in our study of 2 Samuel, encouraging us to seek for hearts that are after God’s own heart.
Discipleship - May ABF
During the month of May, Pastor Sawyer will be teaching the Adult Bible Fellowship in the Family Life Center at 9:00 am on the subject of discipleship and its importance for the church as a whole.
Starting Point
A new month of Starting Point begins May 3. This is the path for church membership. Class begins at 9am in the Fireside Room with Pastor Shon.
The Huddle
The second Friday of each month, there is a retired guys breakfast meeting at The Ankeny Diner at 9am. This is a great opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship together.
CORE Groups
Our JOURNEY Groups and FrontLine will have their last night on April 29. CORE Groups will begin meeting on May 13. CORE Groups are a way to engage with church members in a smaller group setting, encouraging one another in our walks with God. If you are interested in joining a group, let us know.
Equip Sunday Supper
All College EQUIP and 4th Qtr/OT Senior Saints are invited to a joint fellowship THIS Sunday, May 3, at 5:30pm. Supper will be provided and there will be a time to hear the students' future plans, activities, and prayer requests. If you have any questions, see Ron Thompson or Brian Fincham.
Communion
We will be fellowshipping around the Lord's Table during the Community Service on May 3rd. Prepare your hearts ahead of time as we come together to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross.
Name Tag Sunday
Grab a name tag at the kiosk as you enter the building on Sunday, May 3. This is a good tool to refresh yourself on names you don't know well and to get to know people you haven't yet met.
Joyful Noise
During the Community Service on April 26, we will feature a Joyful Noise service. If you would like to participate in the special music service, please email the church office at CBCankeny@gmail.com.
Church Work Day
We have a spring cleaning day at the church planned. This is a great way to keep the building in good condition and steward well what God has blessed us with. The project list is growing fast, and we could use many hands to help make headway on our To Do List.
Pella Tulip Trip
Young adults, college age and up, are invited to a Pella Tulip Trip on Saturday, April 25 from 9:30am to 3:30 pm. A van will be leaving from Community Baptist Church in Ankeny at 9:30am or you can arrange your own transportation. Please RSVP to David Love at (515) 414-4175.
Parents Night Out
Parents, if you have children 4th grade and younger and would like some free babysitting so you can enjoy a night out, our CBC Equip group is offering a Parents Night Out on Sunday, April 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Be sure to sign up at the resource table in the church foyer!
Core Group Leader Meeting
There will be a Core Group Leader Meeting on Sunday afternoon, April 12, at 4:30 pm in the Fireside Room.
Baptism Sunday
Join us as we hear redemption testimonies and witness God's work in the lives of these individuals as they display obedience in believer's baptism. This will be an Extended Worship Service.
Name Tag Sunday
Since Easter was on the first Sunday, we pushed Name Tag Sunday to the second week. Plan to grab a name tag at the kiosk on your way in and meet someone you don't yet know.
Easter Sunday
Celebrate the joy and hope of the resurrection with us this Easter. Invite a neighbor or friend to join you as we worship the risen Savior and rejoice in the victory over sin and death.
Regular Discipleship Hour ministries will be suspended for a time of fellowship, family photos, and cinnamon rolls at 9am. Then stay for the uplifting Extended Worship Service that follows at 10am.
Good Friday Service
Our Good Friday Service will include Scripture, prayer, singing, and communion as we reflect on Christ's suffering and death. Join us in this time of heart preparation for the joy of Easter as we corporately remember the price that was paid for our redemption.
Gen2Gen Series
Psalm 145:4 says "one generation shall commend Your works to another." Our Gen2Gen mini-series is designed to do that. Each speaker will share a short challenge during the Community Services on March 15, 22, and 29. The challenges will be followed by discussion groups.
Name Tag Sunday
On the first Sunday of each month in 2026, we are wearing name tags in order to encourage us in connecting names with faces. Be sure to pick yours up when you enter the building.
Hymn Sing
During the Community Service on February 15, we will enjoy a Hymn Sing. Come prepared to request a favorite hymn that we can sing together.
Superb Owl Parties
On Sunday night, February 8, our Core Groups will meet for fellowship and fun. You can see your Core Group leader for details.
Communion
During the Community Service, we will be celebrating together what the Lord did for us when He gave His life to redeem us. At the same time, we look forward to the day when He will come again!

Psalms
Pastor Mark continues his study of the Psalms during our Adult Bible Fellowship hour at 9:00 AM on Sundays, helping us dig deeper into the organization and application of the Psalms to our daily lives.
Young Families ABF
The Young Families Adult Bible Fellowship is meeting at 9:00AM on Sundays in the ABF rooms during the months of February - April. They are sharing together from the devotional Morning and Evening by C.H. Spurgeon.
Members Meeting
During the Community Service on January 18, we will have our first Members Meeting of the year. This will include the end of the year financial report.
Communion
We will be sharing together in the Lord’s Table on January 11th in our Community Service at 11:20 am. We will remember our Savior’s death for us and look forward to the day when He will come again!
IARBC Singles Game Night
Anyone college age and up is invited to be a part of this night of games and fellowship. This group meets monthly on the second Saturday of the month. Plan to bring a food item to share and join other singles for a fun time this Saturday, January 10, at 6:00 pm.
The Huddle
The Huddle is a time for retired guys to gather for breakfast and fellowship at The Ankeny Diner at 9:00 am on the second Friday of each month. The next meeting is January 9.
Women's Journey Group
The new Journey Groups begin on Wednesday night, January 7, at 7:00 pm. The women will be doing a study called Seeking Him. They will meet in the ABF rooms and will be led by Jen Gogerty and Angela Lundberg.
Men's Journey Group
Our Wednesday night Journey Groups will resume on January 7, and the men’s group will be led by Pastor Shon in a series called Warning: The Cost of Complacency. This class will meet in the Fireside Room.
Baby Bottle Boomerang
During the month of January, we will be participating in a fundraiser for Alpha Women’s Center. Grab a baby bottle in the foyer, fill it with money and return the bottle to church no later than February 4th.
Christmas Caroling
On Saturday, December 20, at 4:00 pm, we will meet to go caroling at the homes of several of our members. Sign up at the Resource Table if you would like to participate.
Christmas Open House
You are invited to the Christmas Open House hosted by our pastors and wives on December 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the church building.
December Schedule
We would love to have you join us at 10:00 am on Sundays for worship this Christmas season. During the month of December, we do not have our usual Discipleship Hour.
